Jeanne Jackson’s love affair with the Mendonoma Coast started many years ago. Along with her husband, Rick, she was always drawn to the area, vacationing from the San Francisco Bay Area. In 1996, the Jacksons realized their dream when they moved to the Coast. Their home is perched on a rocky knoll giving them a view into the world of nature.

In 2015, the Jacksons adopted a rescue golden from Taiwan and named him Sunny. He happily joined in the daily nature hikes on the trails that crisscross their property and inspired Jeanne to consider the world from a dog’s perspective.

Jeanne’s first book, Mendonoma Sightings Throughout the Year, was published in 2015 and received several awards, including:

  • a Gold Award in the category “Nature” in the 2015 National Indie Excellence Awards
  • a Silver Award in the category “Nature & Environment” in the 2015 Benjamin Franklin Book Awards
  • a Bronze Award in the category “West – Pacific Best Regional Non-Fiction” in the 2015 Independent Publishers Book Awards

Jeanne continues to write her weekly nature column, Mendonoma Sightings, in the Independent Coast Observer. Her online chronicle of nature observations in the area can be found at MendonomaSightings.com.
